I'm torn about whether I liked this ending or not... on the one hand, it gives a good example of how to use words to influence people positively... on the other hand, it furthers the view that nerds are, by their nature, weak and meek and physically incapable...
I'll just say it: I'm a nerd. But I'm a US Army trained nerd who actually, ya know... works out. So the stereotype is annoying... a more real world word of advice would be "you never know who it is behind the glasses... be careful,"
"oh shit the black fraternity", Atoms are going to get whooped assed as a mofo bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but this speech was great " everyone who was dejected put down made fun of, either if you think you are a nerd or not one come up here and jopin us"
I've always looked out for the under dog. Having Autism/Aspergers, I relate to this movie. I first saw this on HBO in August of 1985 when I was only 9 and still a great movie to this day. Some of my friends weren't the coolest looking dudes and/or had disabilities as well (be it physical, mental and/or educational) but those who picked on the less fortunate. The Pink Panther cartoon character is similar to nerd using brains to get out of situations.
I WAS THERE!!! 1984, University of Arizona. 3:19 guy in the band with the chin strap in front of my face, in the back by the bass (tuber player). I was in the band. My friends were in the stands. Fun, fun times. Got to play in the Olympics too. Thank God for french horn scholarships, or I'd still be diggin' ditches.
