I first became acquainted with Tito Puente through his drum playing on a song called "Amazing World", which was on a Rockapella tape I owned. He was listed as the main performer on that particular song, so it took a while before I realized he wasn't the one singing. At any rate, that was before I saw this clip on the show (as a kid I mean), so when Elmo introduced him, I knew just who he was.

The instrument is called "timbales" because there is two of them. If its only one of them is "timbal" but I dont think you will ever see that because "timbaleros" (the person who plays timbales) Always use two or more.
RIP Tito Puente the best of the best
