For the first time since the inception of Biro Tatanegara (BTN) or National Civics Bureau in 1974, the institution came under heavy criticism especially from leaders of the opposition parties. For weeks, the issue was played out and debated in the mainstream media and blogs.

BTN was accused of being a tool for the BN government to brainwash students and civil servants. The recent decision by the Selangor and Penang Pakatan Rakyat government to ban its students and civil servants from attending the course had prompted the federal government to revamp the whole course modules.

In light of this controversy, the Klik4Malaysia team spoke to the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil to share her views and experience about the matter.
