This man proves you can demonstrate most of the Xingyi system in only a few moments! I love all his Xingyi animals. proof Xingyi can be soft as well. I really like this, thanks for posting...
@Harper0911 if you have a good handle on your body mechanics and correct movement, cross training does no harm whatsoever. it actually allows you to progress more effectively. it's common in cma to discourage cross training, because no teacher wants to be shown up by their student telling them that the fifth movement in their form is rubbish, and they should replace it with a different one. cross train all you like, friend. learn as much as you can, and iron out what doesn't work.
@cryingsun you seem to have misunderstood me. i meant interest"ing" in their own manner, as in each style seems to have a unique and individual approach to 'xing yi'. no two styles appear to be the same.
that was the meaning i was getting at.
i'll take your warning about cross training to heart. it makes sense. :)
@Harper0911 I won't say that the different styles and schools are interested only in their own rights. Each style and school teaches differently, have different focus, and sometimes different moves and direction of energy. In Chinese martial arts, cross training the same routine between different teachers does more harm then good, you'll end up confused, even hurt.
one of these days i would really like to get in depth with the various styles of xing yi. they all seem so interesting in their own right, it's a shame to not explore them.
