How better to swear at the Albert Hall and get away with it :-) Top band, saw them twice, unfortunately after Ciaron & Luke had passed on. Took my ex girlfriend, an avid metal fan, and by jove you should have seen her doing the actions during Barney's rendition of South Australia ! A band for all people, keep it going lads !

@papaclank When Carey told on Skin-the-goat,
O'Donnell caught him on the boat...this refers to James Fitzharris who was a member of the Irish republican brotherhood... and he was known as "skin the goat" ...you can probably Wikipedia it if you want to know more about the whole thing

I was lucky enough to hear Patsy Watchorn sing this with the Dubs in December 2010 @ Vicar St. His version comes very close to Luke's, although NOTHING will ever beat Luke's version of this song, and it was much better then Ronnies. I wish I could find a recording of it.

@Muteswan1 Pog ma Thon means Kiss my Ass in Irish.

Great, thanks for posting.
There is one thing that still puzzles me about this song. At the end of Monto, Luke dedicates the last verse to "some friends of ours" mentioned in the previous verse.
My cd of this was recorded in 1968. He couldn't have meant Pogue Mahone, could he, as obviously they were hardly born?
Whom was Luke referring to?

it's the clancy brothers they are referring to, as you can hear by the way they sing the last verse...
