2009 Selkirk, Manitoba Parade - The Prequel

Two Town of Selkirk employees discuss the upcoming parade and other local matters and people, including the mayor.

I don't expect people outside Manitoba, or even outside Selkirk, to get all of the jokes. Here's some background - Mayor Bell is the mayor of Selkirk, a small Manitoba Prairie town, about 40 minutes from Winnipeg. It's population is about 10,000. The mayor is disliked by about half the populace, for various reasons. East St. Paul is a neighbouring community. They had a police force that was so corrupt, they had to be replaced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, aka the Mounties.

There is a parade in Selkirk every July.
Selkirk is home to one of the largest mental health care centres in western Canada. The Greyhound bus decapitator is housed there. Petersfield is a small community about 20 minutes from Selkirk.

Selkirk's most famous exports, besides hockey players, are Ellen Reid, who is a singer and keyboard player for the band The Crash Test Dummies, and Kevin Patterson, who is a well-known author and doctor.

This is not a slam at Selkirk. It's comedy. Or, my attempt at it. Selkirk is my hometown and I love it.

Black and white, because when I made the video, that's all Xtranormal had. It's changed now and they have colour. The woman's voice is stilted because that's the way it turned out. The other female voice options sounded worse........this is actually the best one.

2010. I know someone that was dancing on a float for the sir sam steele kickers

and would get a kick out of seeing the pic's/video

I don't have that many, because something happened to my camera and it wouldn't work for awhile.

I'd make more Selkirk videos if I wasn't such a procrastinator. I have video/photos of the 2009 and 2010 Selkirk Parades, but I still haven't got around to making the videos for YouTube. Some day.

xtranormal, the program I use, has American and British and French and I think even East Indian accents, but no Canadian accents. I just put "eh" on the end of the sentences, that's the best I can do.

You didn't make the graphics... It's an online movie maker. You just plug-in dialogue and direct it.

@GideeshFilms - you get pissed off at me because you don't like my comments on a completely different subject - Mel Gibson? Iraq? - so you come over here to criticize my videos. I never said I made the graphics. Show me where I said that. The graphics are indeed provided. If I had to make the graphics, do you think I would have created these bland black and white ones?? I did write it by myself, though, and the dialogue is more important than the graphics, imo.

Actually, I welcome any criticism. How am I supposed to get better at this if I don't have someone to tell me what parts I need to work on?

You're right about the graphics.....black & white and pretty bland. This was the best Xtranormal had when I started this video, which was last July (I'm a huge procrastinator). They have a new animation program called "SLATE", but I haven't been able to download it.

And, I do see the problems with the dialogue.
