  • This is one of my absolute favorite rendition of this song. The song structure is just a pure example of miles genius!! Chris absolutely nails this one! A true example of real jazz! This song has everything (emotion, color, tempo, class, tone) it all screams pure classic jazz! 1:41- 1:52 how can you even begin to describe that phrase!

  • This who's better Chris or Miles thing is a red herring. If Miles was around, I'm sure that he'd pay some homage to Chris, not just for his chops, but for keeping alive one of the nation's true musical art forms. Let's step back a bit, people, and look at what passes for music in this country nowadays. It's utterly deplorable. Now to David and Chris' rendition of Flamenco: well, it moved me. 'Nuff said?

  • One more thing: You don't need to be an outcast to be a Jazz artist. There is no contradiction in being popular and being a Jazz artist. You self-entitled Jazz experts seem to love to bash artists that become more popular! Get off your imaginary high horses, read a little, learn a little, maybe study some sociology, maybe try to truly learn music and what music is about.

  • BTW ... since when playing good music in whichever channel is an "example of the collapse of western civilization"??? If you are a Jazz lover, you should be happy to see it spreading everywhere! Let there be Jazz on Pop channels! I can't believe how people can be so small and pompous!

  • These pour souls . . . all they know how to do is put great artists down! You are simply pitiful! I have a suggestion: get yourself out there and do something productive! Those of you that are so ready to criticize really sign your own testament of stupidity! You know absolutely nothing about music, much less about art. If anything, you are mere people that maybe play an instrument, but that does not make you a musician . . . and for sure not an artist! Botti and Sanborn: Two Greats, period!

  • The fact that a Miles Davis tune was EVER played on a "smooth jazz" channel is an example of the collapse of western civilization. However, it is a nice rendition of the song, and if Botti stuck with this (perhaps even forming a regular band with Sanborn), doing lovely classic format jazz I'd be less annoyed by the guy. I saw him as part of the Bill Bruford/ Tony Levin project "Upper Extremities", and he is a decent improviser in that more off the wall context as well. His music now is... ech.

  • aint got nothing on the original but very good players nonetheless

  • @sjmcbrearty Get yourself on youtube,and let's see what you've got.

If you can play at a better standard than Botti,I look forward to hearing you play.

  • Amazing what Sanborn can do with the horn, Botti tone is perfect however he has stated he cannot play jazz and is not a jazz musician he just plays music. I just love music and I appreciate what these guys bring to the table
