Next time you cook use a lid or cover it contains the heat and the splatter?

@hipofalcon I'm about to place the order, so I'll let you know in a few weeks. I think they might've tweaked some of the hardware, but the overall structure is probably the same. BTW, I don't think folks in the U.S. were able to get it for the price the Canadian company was selling it for back in '08. The shipping cost to the U.S. made it $140-150. In any case, there's no other parabolic close to this price range.

i have a question is it safe to eat food and cool from solar cooking???
-
i alway wonder my self if is possible to install some kind on optical fiber system to redirect the solar beam and use this green power inside your house, i appreciate your answer or even better a video explaining this
Ken, could you give us an update on how this cooker is holding up after a few years, especially the reflective surface? It's now $170 US under the "Solar Burner" name.

@bearthio - it is holding up not bad, but hasn't seen a lot of use either. It will be coming out to fry a batch of onions on August 6/11. We are having a group over and if the sun shines, it will be pressed into service making up copious amounts of fried onions for the sausage-dogs. I have seen them still for sale, but that's twice what I paid. I wonder if the quality has improved, as they weren't very robust. Anyway, I guess we'll all see how it works after 3 years - stay tuned! Ken.

@bearthio - we had a get-together here (Waubaushene Ontario) last Saturday, August 6 2011 and we fried up a huge pan of onions for garnish on the burgers and dogs - worked great! Even after that long, I cleaned up the surface of the dish with Windex and it was likely just as good as it was when I first put it together. I will make a video today of it boiling some water - stay tuned! Ken.

how to make the solar cooker?
Faye2908 1 year ago
@Faye2908 - I didn't make this one. It is from China from a company called "Sangli". You can buy them in the USA - just google parabolic cooker and you should be able to find it. I do have plans for a solar oven (see my other videos) if you are interested in building that one. Ken.

Very cool! It's amazing how fast the pan heats up!

@TheCoolNewStuff - yes, it takes no time at all! Take a look at my video "doubt the power of the sun?" and you will see just how fast it does. Ken.
