  • Why has tested the Canon lens f: 4 and ISO 2500? and sony used lens f: 1.4 and iso 6400? it does not favor more specific brand?

Por que testou a canon com lente f:4 e ISO 2.500? e na sony usou lente f:1.4 e iso 6400? isso não favorece mais determinada marca?

  • @RoBBim

That is the Canon Lens I had mounted to the camera at the time, and it's easy to use for testing as the minimum focus distance is really short. Again, the ISO has no effect on AF.

  • is it only me or i felt that he was a bit partial to the 5D ? i mean it looked like he pre setuped the 5D.... no offence though, Great Video ! ;D

  • @donofthekuwait

I own the 5D Mark II for my Professional work. I review Sony equipment for both a side job and fun! I'm blown away by the technology Sony is coming out with which is why I'm dedicated to review mostly Sony stuff now. My personal choice as I can review whatever I want.

  • With the money thats need the buy the Canon 5D mark ll i could buy a sony A77 more equipment that could better utilize the 1080p 60fps (and other video speed options) video mode, with a 12 fps burst rate with. So yes if your point was to show that a $2,200 camera(canon 5D mark ll) with 1080p 30fps (no other video speed options) video mode and a 3.9 fps burst rate no continuous auto focus ,is slightly better than a $1,400 camera (sony A77) at focusing on a cardboard box, then you made your point

lol, well said and I'm glad you got something out of the video ;) Don't forget though that the 5d Mark II also has full manual control over video and the A77 is locked down in a # of ways unfortunately. Because of those limitations it's unfortunately not as good for video as far as Manual Control goes. Performance wise the A77 is incredible with Video for sure!!

  • Hi guys, sorry for the delayed reply. I am partial to the Canon 5D as it's my personal professional camera that I used for "Work Photography". The AF on the A77 was noticeable weak to me when coming from the 5d mark II which is apparently obvious to some. It was not to me however as the specs on the A77 lead me to believe it would focus pretty much just as good.

Hence The Test I did here in this video.

The ISO has no effect on the autofocus system so it's not a factor in this test.

  • Do a comparison shooting video then you will see the true af capabilities of the A77!

  • Thanks.
