I have always though Buddhism (which I consider myself as) more a philosophy than religion: there is no deity, and they’re focused on learning how to end suffering and become an enlightened person. Instead of having to repent sins to a higher being to, one meditates and studies to overcome bad behavior for one’s own sake. It takes more personal responsibility, but is a bit more “down to earth”.

First of all: I find it funny that becoming a Christian comes with forgiveness for all past sins. I wonder when they will start to sell indulgences, as if it were the Dark Ages again. Hume seems to unknowingly promote Pascal’s Wager.

Ignorance and stupidity are sometimes hallmarks of the news media. In this case, Hume has shown his to the world and lost much of the credibility he might have had otherwise.

im only 17 so what do i know, but i think remarks similar to that just show how short his spectrum of thought is. One of Buddhisms main precepts are, "no adultry" i dont know much about christianity, but i think that it is forbidden also in christianity. I learnt in dharma class that if you do such tthings which are morally wrong, then the only good thing you can do is to acknowledge what you did was wrong, and promise to yourself to never do it again.

@vicjustice1 If you keep reading Jesus said "go and sin no more" It was not just a message to the those judging but more so to the one sinning.

I will go fuck a few hookers, rob a store, and mug an elder woman and then as Hume says, I will go to Christianity for forgiveness and its all good.
PS. I hate all religions so not just bashing Christianity.

My message to Brit would be: Brit get rid of that bad rug on your head because you look stupid.
And that is why America is a nation of fat, broke, bigoted idiots.
Makes me sad to be an American.
Hume understands nothing. He's a bozo twit with no creds for saying anything about Buddhism, Islam, race, or even Christianity. What worked for him during his tragedy is not what HAS to work for everyone.
