Forgot to mention here yesterday....I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska where there is a Captain Cook statue overlooking Cook Inlet. When hiking along the Cleveland Way, found a postcard in a shop in Whitby that said Whitby, England is a sister city of Anchorage, Alaska.

Isn't there a connection between captain Cook and Staithes as well? Thought I recalled reading about Captain Cook while hiking through Staithes on the Cleveland Way.

Hi Ben
Thanks for your comment. I make these YOUTUBES as if they were a film and thus move quickly through the photographs.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Japan - my Japanese partner is living here.
Regards
Mike

A wonderful place to live for cycling, walking, running......but lately too much rain in the UK! Great Ayton is between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales both having wonderful scenery
