Truman enjoys being held upside down, cuddled, and pet. He likes to climb on my shoulder and for me to wrestle with his beak. He sure is a cuddly Cape Parrot.

  • Your parrots are so tame, and they seem to trust you a lot. Just wondering, how long did it take for your parrots to willingly let you pet them? I have had my budgie for almost a year now and i got him when he was fresh out of the nest, he used to let me pet him, but in the last few months he won't any more. I'm not sure why. do you have any tips on how i can build my budgies trust up again?

  • @sunkissed951 I think budgies can only be taught to tolerate petting at best. They are just so small that even petting them with one finger is like running a fist over your head. There just isn't much in it for them.

  • Hi, just a quick question, would you happen to know why he does that little stretch with his wing and leg at 0:35 in the video? Our cockatoo does that as well from time to time and I was just wondering if it had and particular meaning.

    p.s. Truman is adorable! :)

  • @amyorourke It's just a wing stretch. I've seen other kinds of birds do it as well. It doesn't mean anything except that he hasn't flown in a bit and needs a stretch. The only meaning you can find in it is that the bird is probably comfortable with you if it is doing it around you. They don't do this when they are scared of uncomfortable.

  • awww ur parrots so cute!

how do u train them so well?

    do they have speacial qualities?

  • u r the best dude

  • @NukeDiablo Senegals are good parrots if you are the right person. If you have the time to give it attention, train it, play with it, etc. and the money to provide a good cage and toys then they will make very nice pets. They are playful and sometimes cuddly. What are you looking for in your bird? Have you looked into conures? they can be loud but green cheeks are a bir quieter. they are super playful and cuddly. I have a sun conure. I have never owned a sennie but they sound like good birds.
