Military Coop Out of Catholic High Schools

RFHall Nonviolence Committee continues to work for an end to Military Coop programs and recruiting in Canadian Catholic High Schools saying it is contrary to the Gospel teachings of Jesus. In this compilation John Dear, a Jesuit priest active in the peace movement, explains why military presence in schools is contrary to Jesus teachings of nonviolence, and how we need to stand up against the culture of death that is the antithesis of the Beatitudes Jesus taught.

@Northernsharpshooter Oh, and ethically, morally speaking, no one has the right to down, that is, to criticize, anything or anyone unless he or she also reasonably backs up the criticism. And on the same basis, no one has any right to support criminal govt, state, military, corporations, murderers, rapists, and so on. So no one has any moral right to support wars of aggression, imperialism, colonialism, and ... so on. Even if a piece of paper says you have these rights, you ethically don't!

@Northernsharpshooter Jesus expressed his views and he taught, publicly, all while knowing that many people would reject him and what he said. That didn't deter him. The same was true of Muhatma Gandhi, Rev. MLK Jr, and many other people who publicly spoke when knowing there'd be enemies. Why should we be detered just because of criminally minded people? Should we stay silent and let them rule, while they overrule human rights, democracy, justice, peace, ...? I don't think so.
