I think his wording,"I want you, I want you, no more" is genius. To me it expresses the conflict perfectly - being drawn in two directions - "I want you." and "I want you, no more." He didn't say, "I don't want you no (any) more." She left to be silver model and keeps returning like a bad penny. I think it's a song about lost love and disillusionment with the trappings of fame and life on the road.

My favourite Cat Stevens song. What a prodigious talent, and such an impassioned performer live. I agree with the posts here about it being a time of re-evaluation for him. The whole structure of this enigmatic song, with it's constantly shifting accents and melodic twists and turns suggests a soul in some turmoil. This is most definitely not the composition of someone who is feeling self-satisfied and relaxed. I just love it, and always have.
