  • Everyone makes a big deal about Katrina, but Ike was twice the size and did much more damage.

  • my grandmother lives in those apartments and i experienced the damage first hand

  • Underground would be a good plan if it wasn't for the fact that we are barely above sea level and prone to flooding. Flooded powerlines are no better than the overhead ones damaged by wind. And the overheads are faster and cheaper to fix as you don't have to dig up sidewalks to get to the problem.

    Instead of worrying about restoration, we're going with plan B...get the F outta here! And move back to Mass before next hurricane season. lol

  • Well..depends what part of town you are in actually. Where this video begins with the apartment complexes, in that area power lines are underground. It's the older portions of the city for example that still have above ground power lines. But you are right, we do have to try to change that.

  • What I find strange is that we here in Belgium, (Europe), we have our power lines underground, even that we never has hurricanes. And there were you have hurricanes every year, power lines are not underground. Maybe a proposal for you're politicians over there?
