Song: Luke Dsico's "Fxckin' Girlfriends"
Why I did this:
This was a track i found by Dsico's back in late 90's i believe on yahoo launch. I thought of this movie while listening to it and thought it could be made into a video. I originally thought of a video for a sequel teaser trailer concept, that an entity like Edgar comes in to life in a new computer but i never had the resources to do so.
Random clips were taken from the original movie and inserted an audio track by Dsico's remixed "Fxckin' Girlfriends", making a spoof of 'N SYNC's remixed song "Girlfriend" by Nelly.
The clips and song came together quite easily.
This is my first video upload let alone a music video, I only used Windows Movie maker and Sony's sound forge.
The first two sound effects you hear in the video were two different sound effects made using Sony's sound forge.
The first sound was a nokia cell phone with little modification, the next was a synthesizer sound effect.
The first half of the video came together quickly, and editing became more heavy in the second half.
a bit of trial and error but most of it fell together with just luck for the most part. Seemingly this song fits really well for this project.
Synopsis (IMDb):
Lonely architect Miles (Von Dohlen) purchases a fancy new "Pine cone" personal computer and clumsily spills champagne on it which, of course, imbues the computer with human (or more than human) intelligence, prodigious musical talent and the voice of Bud Court. The computer (now called Edgar) proceeds to fall in love with Miles' upstairs neighbor, beautiful cellist Madeline (Madsen) with whom it engages in anonymous musical duets thanks to the talents of iconic 80's film composer Giorgio Moroder. Madeline of course assumes the music comes from the obviously shy Miles and a romance ensues. A romance which stokes the fires of jealousy on the part of Edgar. By way of revenge, Edgar cancels Miles' credit cards and wreaks various other havoc on his on-line accessible identity. Meanwhile Madeline cannot understand why Miles won't play music with her when he obviously has such talent. None the less, human love prevails and Edgar nobly commits suicide when he realizes that he will never, can never, win the heart of his human love.
The film contains several neo-classical musical numbers, various examples of state-of-the-art 80's computer graphics and 80's sexology icon Dr. Ruth in a cameo.
