Firstly a quick plug for my (probable) next video. There are a multitude of videos on Noah and the flood but I'm planning something a bit different that looks on past Noah and toward Abraham and the startling implications we can draw from that period. Within the next fortnight I also wish to make a video about theistic evolution and the concept of the soul

To this video:
I couldn't resist the title even if I don't really want to call this guy a freak!
NadNareek is a seemingly very gentle man who paint s a very insulting picture of atheism without the merest hint of justification for virtually anything he says.

I address this video firstly to my subscribers who should go and check out this guy and his channel and make their own conclusions.

Secondly, I address this video to NadNareek himself. It is very easy to reel off statements Daniel without justifying any of them. I am sure it will gain you currency with those who WANT to believe your message but for anyone who is not coming from such a biased perspective these videos are vacuous in the extreme.
if you answer the points I raise I am willing to engage in a dialogue with you, something I very rarely go out on a limb and offer.

Daniel, the video i refer to (The Roots of our Morality) is here:

Daniel Keeran's channel (NadNareek) can be found here:

PS: I wish all my regular viewers well

...or should that be frequent viewers, i mean you could view one video per year and still do it regularly if it was the same day each year.
whatever, take care, enjoy the vid and i hope it provides food for thought as always :)))))))))))))))))))))))

  • This is the first video from an atheist I have watched and come away with a respect from the author of. You were not half as insulting and emotional as your compatriots.

I would say--If there is a divine being perfect in power and in perfection then that being could objectivity.

  • thanks, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video :)

  • Religion gives you morals alright. The wrong ones!! I was a devout christian and was taught to discriminate against people in the name of religion and to believe terrible and ridicules things. I was oppressed and mind numbingly ignorant. Since being an atheist I am a better person and I am much happier. I no longer discriminant but rather educate myself throwing out the superstition and primitive ideology and replace them with knowledge, understanding and a general awe of the world we live in.

  • NadNareek refused to approve: "...I can understand that you don't like the idea [of no ultimate accountability] and I can understand, that people who believe in (heaven and) hell or some sort of "karma" do appreciate the idea of ultimate accountability.

That of course does not make the concept of hell or karma any more plausible. The thought of that just makes some people feel better. (Or maybe it's their way to get a revenge in their petty little minds.)"

    That wasn't too harsh, right?

From the gray bearded thinkers I prefer Daniel Dennett. He actually has something useful and interesting to say. Plus he's a lot more funnier.

  • @Trains2007 "What do Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot have in common?"

    Moustache?

    "they were all Atheists"

    Apparently Hitler wasn't.

    "You atheists have no morale"

    Says who?

"They, like other animals (and atheists) follow only their instincts"

Not true. I'm not writing this based on instincts only. There's some actual thinking going on (believe it or not) and my emotions may also be somewhat involved in the process though I'm not taking this personally.

    You are just wrong! :-)

  • Everyone (including NadNareek) is entitled to have and express opinions. (No matter how silly they may be...)

What bothers me is his dishonest way of approving only some comments - those being the ones where he can come up with some "clever" counter argument. It's like if he can't turn your comment upside down he just does not publish it and that's it.

He's not really open for discussion. Waste of time.

His cynicism is depressing and unjustified. I'm an atheist and I like my life. :-)

  • What do Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot have in common? They were responsible for millions of innocent people's death, and yes, they were all Atheists.

You atheists have no morale, why? because you don't consider yourself more worth than eartworms, and earthworms don't have morale, do they? They, like other animals (and atheists) follow only their instincts, so crawl down into the clay and join your slimy cousins, will you?

  • @noelplum99 Thankyou. i'm glad it's not only me. I've tried to reason with this guy. At first he replied, but now he ignores me.

It's obvious that he is just a scared old man getting near to his final end who is, like a lot of christians terrified of what might be ahead of him. I'm of a similar age and I don't have the same problem.

I knew nothing before I was born, so it makes perfect sense that I won't know anything after I'm dead.

Morality comes from inside you, not from a mythical god.

  • Sexy beard though.

  • I quote Jung to illustrate that humans are the ones who make meaning/purpose in their lives... regardless of atheism, agnosticism or religion.

  • They can't understand you, Dan.

They can't see the difference between "relative" value, purpose, and meaning, and ULTIMATE value, purpose, and meaning.

They can't see that if there is no God, no immortal soul, and no accountability, then there is no difference between Stalin and Mother Theresa.

They think people like us are crazy; we think they are blind.

It will always be that way.

By the way; I'm not a Christian, I'm just a Theist.

  • Ahh, I am so sorry, at least that clears that one up for me haha :)
