This room has 6 ceiling recess lights which give pretty good lighting to the room. The Nikon Coolpix S8100 did not pick up the lighting and actually made the room look dingier or dark. Also you can hear the camera zooming noise as I zoom some tight shots. The picture quality is good, not great for HD 1080p. All in all very disappointed with my purchase and will be returning the camera for a Canon PowerShot S95. Even though the S95 does not have 1080P I've seen videos where it shows better results in low light. I'll upload another sample video of the same room, same lighting but shot on my old Canon SD900 (that I purchased in 2007) which shows better lighting results than this new Nikon Coolpix S8100.
Here is my full review of the Nikon Coolpix S8100:

The Canon 300HS does significantly better than this camera in low light like in this video. I just bought both on black friday. I bought the Nikon for the zoom, and the canon for the wider angle etc

The S95 is also $200 more.If you're going to spend $400, why not just get a camcorder?

this camera is meant for outdoor shooting...it's a f3.5 not a f2.0 lens.

Would you objectively say that low-light (or indoor, more specifically) image quality is lacking as well? Or is it a bit better?
