A short and simple film from 5gyres.org and riseaboveplastics.org to bring attention to the ever growing issue of plastic pollution in our world's oceans and on our beaches. The clips in the film are from 5gyres.org 's voyage to the North Atlantic Gyre in January and February of 2010 to study plastic density and persistent organic pollutant uptake in the marine food chain.

  • Guys, a simple storyboard, and plan for the edit will make your videos much more noticeable and give them greater impact. Im no expert, but that much i know. Kudos for making a video highlighting the issue though. Next time, id do a mini Doc if i was you, and story board it out, even loosely, then narrate it with one voice throughout when you get home (in between the other voices).

  • I'm not saying i don't care about the environmentalism or anything.. But this clip is retarded. I hope you people spend your time and money better than picking up individual pieces of plastic like that. 3-5million tonnes of plastic in the world's oceans and you guys got about 900lbs, I hope you have a better plan.

  • The earth will survive long after were all dead.

  • This video really gives a taste of what is out there, along with the types of entrees you enjoyed while out at sea. Haha all playing aside I agree with SharkGirl our children are our future. We need to make a difference and make a solution as well. Until that day I will continue to be one of many adding in the solution but hope to someday stop the need for plastics on all shores around the world. BIg dream for a small planet covered with too much plastic already. :( someone out has to be able t

  • Excellent video clip. Very informative. I wish I could show this to all the students I talk with when Im visiting schools to educate our youth on the crisis our ocean's and marine is in because of plastic pollution. I saddens me deeply and just makes me that much more determined to be a part of the solution. Awareness through education... Our children, our hope!
