@nubcakken01 My views may be my own creation but without a specific understanding of SOURCE MATERIAL an interpretation is both arbitrary and just about impossible. Besides being knowledgeable about NGE and its religious references, I can pick out which ones are there as "fluff" and which ones actually symbolize something. Things, at least in this case,a aren't as simplistic as you might initially suspect them to be.

Your religious views are of your own creation. Anno's use of Biblical figures and ideas boils down to nothing more than a very typically Japanese interest with anything not Japanese. You're reading WAY too much into this if you think the religious imagery is anything more than texture.
