As seen in my other videos, my M5 had noisy Vanos and a couple of hydraulic lifters were noisy. This has all been fixed now, as well as a few other jobs. As can be heard in the video it now sounds a lot quieter, it idles much better, and is much more powerful (although I think this was mainly as the timing was out).

It sounds quite noisy when I open the bonnet, but I think this is mainly due to the viscous fan being engaged. The car idles quietly, and you can only hear the Vanos slightly when the bonnet is lifted, and not at all with the bonnet closed.

  • That sounds a lot better!

  • @Oedegaarde Yes it does! It drives a lot better as well. I've done 1500 miles since the work was done, and it's still running great.

  • How much costs this repair about vanos?

I've the same problem, but it's only on low temperatures like 0°C.
