@compaq1275 Really? For me It's the ONLY way with piston valve instruments. As a Tuba player I find using 4+2 the most awkward combination on a rotary valve 4-in-line instrument, but it's natural, fast and comfortable on a 3+1 valve British style instrument! So many great Piccolo trumpet players use the left hand first finger too - Maurice Andre and Sergei Nakariakov are just two examples that come to mind. The design of rotary piccolos seems to make it impractical on those though

As a trumpet player myself, I have NEVER seen someone play a 4 valve trumpet with their left pointer finger! That's such a good idea! My pinkie is so weak and sluggish... I'm going to go try that now :D

Getting her CDs in Canada is like looking for lips on a chicken.

I don't bother reading the comments as none of them add anything to the music and in fact, most attempt to take away.

The Marcello concerto is a fantastic piece of music. you really have to be careful about your ornaments - this is the only week point of Helseth performance.

Tine is a very knowledgeable musician on many levels. Perfert style.
she's really a great find. I've just discovered her and listened to a few of her pieces now and the notes just seem to flow out of her so effortlessly. And this is one of my favourite trumpet pieces ever so full of emotion.IMHO she ranks up along with Wynton and Maurice. All 3 subtly different sounds an styles but now I've got 3 favourite trumpeters rather than the previous 2 (Wynton and Maurice)
Go girl !

Such expressive playing! A beautiful warm tone, fabulous articulations and knowledgeable ornamentation. She obviously knows what she is doing. I have enjoyed this piece on oboe but it takes on a whole new charm on the piccolo trumpet. Lets just say she plays with style and great musicianship!
