I created this video on Xtranormal.com This video explains what an ISP is and the 4 different connections that an ISP can offer its subscribers.

WORD FOR WORD:
This is Mike.......

and Mark.......

We are here today to talk about I.S.P. and the four different types of connections you can get.

What is an I.S.P.?? .........Mike

An I.S.P. is a company or organization through which a subscriber obtains Internet access... A subscriber can be a business, a private consumer, a government body, or even another I.S.P.

So... what are the four main connection methods used by subscribers??.......

I.S.P.s offer various connection options. The main connection methods used by home and small business users are: Dial up access, Digital subscriber line (D.S.L.), a Cable modem, or satellite connection.

Okay cool.... Can you please tell us alittle bit more about each of the different types of connections??............Mike!

Dial up access is an inexpensive option that uses any phone line and a modem. To connect to the I.S.P., a user calls the I.S.P. access phone number. Dial up is also the slowest connection option with speeds of 56 kbps, and is typically used by mobile workers and in areas where higher speed connection options are not available..................................

Then... D.S.L., is more expensive than dial up, but provides a faster connection with speeds of 512 kbps or higher. D.S.L. also uses telephone lines, but unlike dial up access, D.S.L. provides a continuous connection to the Internet. This connection option uses a special high-speed modem that separates the D.S.L. signal from the telephone signal and provides an Ethernet connection to a host computer or LAN.............

Final connection is Satellite connection. It is an option offered by satellite service providers. The user's computer connects through Ethernet to a satellite modem that transmits radio signals at speeds from 128 kbps to 512 kbps to the nearest Point of Presence, or P.O.P., within the satellite network.....

So those are all 4 connections methods that I.S.P.s offer right??

Yes, ...Sir!!

Well....... Thank-you, Mike!!.....

No Problems.......

.and those are what an I.S.P. is..... and the what the 4 different connection methods offered by them are....

Mike and Mark signing off........... see ya!!
