@KabaneTheChristian well, I just want to say that it is not a custom of mine to post comments and I don't intend on dragging this on. If it irks you then I suggest you take it up with the Melkites or other Eastern rite Catholics. For now I will sign off.
Pax Tecum- Peace be with you ...and remember that both of us must strive to always imitate our Lord and Savior.

Because it's not in use in any other Christian communion. It was revised in order to conform to Orthodox doctrine, it is not identical to the Book of Common Prayer.
-
@KabaneTheChristian so how can you say it's exclusively Orthodox? Some guy revised the Book of Common Prayer (which is based on the Sarum Rite) and then called it "Orthodox". That's about it.
-
That is because at the Russian Revolution, all these countries sent over their bishops to the United States to establish communities for their faithful here. This has led to the present uncanonical situation and hence, use of non-vernacular languages. The OCA and Antioch in America, however, both use the vernacular. It will be into these two jurisdictions, I predict, that all other American jurisdictions will be united with.

It irks us because the Uniates have a history of attempting to proselytize and confuse Orthodox into thinking that Eastern Orthodoxy and Uniatism is the same thing.
-
I know what he did. He revised the English Book of Common prayer to be in accordance with Orthodox doctrine. Few rites are created ex nihilo.
-
1. I believe everything which Eastern Orthodoxy teaches.
2. I am in communion with the Bishop of Rome as the first among the bishops, according to the limits recognized by the Holy Fathers of the East during the first millennium, before the separation.
This is intended to confuse the faithful into thinking they can move to a Uniate church and still believe the same thing.
-
What's your point? They share a common ancestor, the Mass of St. Gregory the Great, which was in use before the schism. But Orthodox recite it in the vernacular, while Roman Catholics recite it in Latin. This alone demonstrates that we aren't trying to confuse anybody. The Uniates try to confuse Orthodox by proclaiming that they are merely "Orthodox in communion with Rome". The Melkites put out this "two point profession of faith"

I know what the Code of Canons says. That represents what Rome wishes the Uniates were, not what they are. Have you read about the Zoghby Initiative? Zoghby expressly criticized the Code of Canons as an inaccurate portrayal of how the Uniate churches were governed.
I know intercommunion is tolerated, and it is tragic. Intercommunion is a result of unity, not a means to achieve it.
-
@KabaneTheChristian if they believe that then they are in conflict with the Bishop of Rome. The canons of the Eastern Rite churches in union with the bishop of Rome state otherwise. You can look them or I can supply you with a link if you so desire. But, I know that in the middle east intercommunion is tolerated. That is a well-known fact.
is this church in USA?
