Dear viewer. Please don´t hesitate to contact me at: aleines@online.no or post a comment on this page.
This is a video about my introduction to LSVT BIG. An exercise program meant to delay, or even stop or reverse some of the negative changes that happen to a person with Parkinson´s Disease. The video represents my personal experience with the exercise program and the physical therapists at FRAM Helserehab outside Oslo, Norway, and I wanted to share it. I strongly believe in physical exercise as a way of fighting the impact of the disease has on your body. And "lsvt BIG" just makes sense to me.

  • Enjoyed the video and thanks for the inspiration!. Know any musicians/guitarists faced with this challenge?

  • Thanks indeed.

Saw an interview with musician Barbara Thompson. Saxophone. Can´t remember where.

  • You are absolutely right. What a PD person percives as big movements may not be very big at all, like with their voice. LSVT BIG is supposed to help you maintain the speed and amplitude of your movements, and also make you more aware of the slow, negative changes in how you move. You train to do the opposite of what your body wants.

  • Hi, I would like to know if there is any place near Paducah, KY.

  • Just visit the lsvtglobal website and you will be able to search for your nearest clinician. Anders

  • To my dear friend Anders.

Firstly I have to say that it’s very saddening news to hear that you have got this decease. Despite that, I find it extremely encouraging to see and hear that you have so much fight in you. Even after having discovered that you have Parkinson’s, you still manage to see the positive things in life, and you take time to make this very inspirational film showing other people that there are ways to cope with the decease. You are truely my inspiration :)

  • I am a Massage therapist with a PD patient who has just started this program and has felt significant results. I have seen the difference in the tonicity of her muscles and am so excited to hear about these techniques that I will be sharing this with my Massage Students at the college. It is inspiring to see effective therapy for this frustrating disease. I am motivated to learn more so I can educate more!! thank you all for sharing your comments.

  • I've just completed the LSVT program and will be going for a walk today for the first time without my cane. It's a great program!

  • Am I right in thinking that this is a modified, whole body version of Lee Silver-Mann voice Therapy? I am a speech and language therapist in Ireland and have not come across this LSVT BIG before. I have a group of people with PD who have found LSVT very beneficial. Initially they found it very difficult to believe me that what they thought was LOUD was not loud. This programme is AMAZING!

  • Thank you for making this video. I have asked my neuro twice about this program, and both times he has said, you don't need it, YET. Next visit, I am going to TELL him that I want to go. I deal with my PD thru laughter.

  • Im a PT myself.I think LSVT big is a great exercise for Parkinsons disease. Thank you for sharing. Youre encouraging other patients to fight a good fight. And I salute you for that! :-)
