Extremely rare introduction clip taken from the 1968 show "The Beat of the Brass". Track is from the 1966 "SRO" album. Enjoy.

P.S. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Herb and Lani play at Blues Alley in Georgetown Washington DC 12 May 2008. The show was absolutely spectacular. After all these years, they both still have it: the skills and the love. Truly a remarkable show. Herb and Lani, thanks to all of the wonderful years of warming our hearts with your great art work. You both are truly blessed as well as I was at your show.

  • I think trombones and trumpets- all kinds of brass.... way cool. Brass kicks ass.

  • BEAT OF THE BRASS - one of the BEST albums ever! I think I wore out the grooves listening to it when I was a young girl, even recognizing how cool this music was. Alpert really defined his whole own genre. Nobody else has ever come close!

  • It was written by Cannonball Adderley in the early '60's! The Chorus went,"Hold it steady while I hit it,yeah, that oughta Git,Im'working,I'm Working,I feels like the Devil on the road!"

  • The CBS-TV Special Herb and his Brass did in 1968! Another Special worthy of DVD Issue!

  • I played this in my high school band in 1972 or 73. Loved it then, love it now!!

  • I always thought of this song as "Mariachi Ska".

  • It seems awkward to be working on trumpets and a brass band is around me playing.

  • THIS IS REALLY COOL!

  • i think this is the most pathetic version of this great song I have ever heard.

  • @Redbirdgirl88 He was very cute! I grew up with his music in the 60's, I love it!

  • he was actually kind of cute :).lol..love this stuff so much better than the stuff i had to suffer with as a teen in the 90's ( liked some of that too, but i appreciate older stuff more.thanks!
