The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) hosts the Foreign Affairs Day AFSA Memorial Plaque Ceremony in the C Street lobby of the U.S. Department of State honoring Foreign Service personnel who have lost their lives while serving our country. AFSA President Susan R. Johnson presides over the May 4, 2012 ceremony, reading a message from President Barack Obama, with remarks by Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Maria Otero. This year Sharon S. Clark was memorialized.
