Boris tells Kát'a that his uncle is sending him away — but what will Kát'a do? Sadly, she bids him farewell. As he leaves, in utter disappointment she begins to think how nature will renew itself over her grave, at first she seem comforted by this idea but suddenly she is overcome by despair and throws herself into the river. Kuligan sees her jump and calls for help. Tichon rushes in together with Kabanicha, he blames her in a brief moment of pointless rebellion. Meanwhile some neighbours try to rescue Kat'a but when Dikoj brings in Kát'a's dead body and lays it on the ground, Tichon flings himself down, sobbing. Coldly, Kabanicha formally pronounces a short speech of thanks to the good people for the help they have given.
Nancy Gustafson, Barry McCauley, Felicity Palmer, Ryland Davies and Louise Winter in the Glyndebourne production conducted by Andrew Davis and directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff.

Well actually no one helped Ka'ta to avoid this, neither his most beloved Boris, so though perhaps the 'Kabanicha' had the lead guiltm everyone indeed no helped Ka'ta to avoid her sad ending. :( Even Varvara and her boyfriend, though sympathetic didn't helped.
Kabanicha wanted Ka'ta dead just as it, so she made all this elaborated work for acheive it, withouth looking herself as guilty of murder, and what the best than induce indirectly her victim to kill herself. I hate her!!
