the first time I saw this ad I thought wouah!! the guy is gorgeous. Then I started to wonder what it would feel like for any non caucasian person to grow up in a world where beauty either feminine or masculine is always portrayed from a white point of view, using exclusively caucasian models? any thought anyone?

I'm actually one of these people :) Although half of my childhood was spent in China, the past 11 years I've spent in the US, where Caucasians do dominate the industry (As they should). However, I think there is a consideration of the product demographic whenever models are cast in any environment, and though there may exist underlying racial supremacy/preference, it's mostly efficient methods of marketing :)

thanks for your reply, at last someone with brains who does not take everything at face value! However I disagree that caucasian should dominate the market especially in such a multicultural country as the U.S.That they should be more visible is one thing but not at the detriment of the rest of us who are growing up, living, contributing (culturally and economically) and more importantly consuming

True, but you also should consider the fact that many already glamorize Caucasian looks even outside of the US -- and thus there is less complaint about a lack of diversity...though the critics do exist. Multicultural or not, I think a large part of the problem is that the general public is not voicing its concerns -- if those even exist -- loudly enough.

That's exactly it! People are buying into an ideal of what is it to be or look successful and attractive without taking the time to realise that no amount of skin bleaching, dieting , hair relaxing or plastic surgery will turn them into a...Gucci Model! And this is true for all ethnic group but at least for caucasian when it comes to beauty their ethnicity/origins will not be questioned. In the mean time the fashion and cosmetic industry is making tons of money.

Certainly...
Just a note, you might find a better audience for your viewpoints on a forum, and not in a group of YouTube comments, haha. I agree and all -- but just saying ;)
