I had the opportunity to compare the speed of Windstream 12MB service vs. RoadRunner (my current provider). I have the "turbo" option with my RoadRunner account. I don't believe anything like this is available for Windstream.

All tests were done wirelessly from my 3 year old MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.6 - and using Safari for the browser.

  • A bit is not a byte.

  • i do not believe you are comparing apples to apples. if you have 12 meg with both companies, why are you getting 25meg?

that is a mistake...you better keep it quiet because your getting more then you are paying for

  • @maxamillion1976 I'm not positive, but I don't think this happens to me. I haven't ever noticed any drastic change while on the computer or xbox at those times. I have had Windstream for 2 years now.

  • I have Windstream right now, and these are the same resluts I get. Do you happen to know the Ping on both of those? I think I have about 65ms with WS now.

  • Windstream is the WORST DSL network ever constructed since the creation of the internet. If you don't mind constant frustration, inability to do anything that involves transmitting packets of data, retarded tech support, and dealing with the Better Business Bureau, Windstream will work for you.

  • Right now Lincoln Windstream service has a problem with download speed. Between approxiimately 10pm and 4am speed drops to .6mbps and 2.6mbps. According to Windsteam it is a Lincoln wide problem.

  • It's Mega-BITS not BYTES. Put it this way if it was 12 Mega Bytes (like you're saying) it would be 96mbps... quite a difference!

  • Thanks for the video. I was trying to find out how fast Windstream might be compared to RoadRunner from Time Warner Cable. I just have a regular RoadRunner service and get about 22Mbps download speed and 0.49 Mbps upload speed. Do you plan on staying with RoadRunner or switching to Windstream? BTW, I also live in Lincoln, NE.
