  • the story of pavlov's dogs makes me think about what happens when human beings stop watching tv

i've been living in a place with a television lately, and i am really aware of its conditioning effect on me--it makes me want things, makes me feel like i don't measure up, etc.

  • luckily, i haven't been forced to watch all that much television. i've grown more and more aware of the conditioning you are talking about. and as jerry mander puts it, it goes deeper than the personal in the various social and cultural levels.

  • @lol97d I have ingested heaps of psychoactive plants, and chemicals. All your shamanistic 'spiritual' viewpoints are based on the division of labor in HG societies.

These primitive societies were at times idyllic I will concede. I tend to project my personal values on them through interpretation as you do.

You claim an objective assessment 'modernity will collapse' and that reminds me of fascism. Why not make it collapse? Why not force it to collapse?

  • @lol97d 'Spiritual' is just a figment of your imagination.

  • If nuclear energy is utilized civilization could perpetuate itself indefinitely. We could go to space.

  • I largely agree with the comments here but I do value the internet for it enables an individual to access information and ideas that otherwise would be much more difficult to attain. TV, however, is another story. Obviously, the vast majority of it is crap to the intelligent person save for something like the History Channel or Discovery Channel.......

  • I absolutley hate the internet too and the tv. I agree the only way I'm gonna get away from this, is walking the fuck away.

  • i think the majority of folks could survive, if we worked at making our own lives, properties, communities, etc independent and sustainable.

  • TV just pisses me of, to no end, when i get stuck watching it.

i talk a lot of shit, when a television is lying to me.
