Hello, I'm Gert van Hoef
I'm 14 years old and I love playing organ.

Saturday 31-5-08 I saw on youtube a animation of Bach's TOCCATA and FUGUE in D-minor, I thought "WOW" I'm going to try to play that piece. After a whole day practice, I could play a small piece of Toccata.
After many days more practice on the organ of my grandfather, I have the small piece on film and posted on youtube on July 21 , (the Toccata and a part of the Fugue). Because I learned so easy to play organ (I was now on lesson), I got a great Johannus organ. Meanwhile, we had the piece of sheet music, I was much faster practice and work on a proper fingering and technique.
On September 22 I put a new movie, the full version full on the organ played. (Is no longer on YT)
It sounded great. Together with my father I worked on improving my technique and rhythm. Now I just put my 3rd video with a somewhat calmer registration. Especially the Fugue sounds wonderful. Listen for yourself and let me know what you think ...

Thanks. Gert van Hoef

  • @wallisliku986 I understand. I'm sure you're not really a belly-acher! Anyway, we can both agree that Gert is something pretty remarkable as an organist. With best wishes ...

  • Prima. Vielen Dank.

  • Magnificient playing , I really enjoyed it, but the most I enjoyed is the way you add your own touch but staying respectful to the original partition. I didn't like pretty much this organ's sound, I prefer havling little more basses but well :) Keep on Gert , It was a pleasure hearing and seeing that.

  • Thank you Gert, it lifts my spirit to see young people like yourself playing the type of music that I love so much.

You certainly have the makings of an excellent player, so keep on practicing. As for verb and tempo, just play things the way YOU feel them, that's what makes different performers unique...

I added the video to my favorites btw., :)

  • @musicalhotcha why do you want to see it? i could do one, actually maybe i just will :p

    an.

  • @willzer808 : When can we see YOUR vid of this?

  • Excellent!! Keep it up... you are a great player

  • Great job. Thanks for posting very much..!! Keep up your good work on the organ..!!

  • @gertrw no need to be sorry, i guess its good to have a fair amount of echo there to simulate a larger church sized space. Its kind of strange one. ButI was just complaining for no other reason than to just complain. So i'm sorry. Well played man : ) Its such a good piece and so enjoyable to play, and to listen to : )
