Dangerous Start To 2009 For South Haven Indiana, 3 Fires In 48hrs

Crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 753 Baltimore Road at about 1:20am, 24hrs after a different house fire just blocks away. County Police being first on scene advised a working fire with an exposure. On arrival South Haven and Mutual Aid Companies made an aggressive attack holding the fire in check. The homeowner was treated on scene for chest pains, none of the Firefighters at the scene were injured. Coincidentally as I was uploading this video crews were working another structure fire in the area of 710 Fox River Road, glad I got a new scanner to hear Porter County better. This was the 3rd house fire in a 48 hour period for this town of only 6,000 people.

We responded to approx. 24 structure fires last year. This is both fires hosted by SHFD and mutual aid fires.

WOW, I did not know this. 24 total structure fires for 2008 and if I am not mistaken 3 so far for 2009. Stay safe and stay warm, I hope to see you soon on different circumstances.

I realize fires might be interesting to you, and that 3 in 48hrs is huge.. but did you ever stop to think that by putting this up here, ur bringing back painful memories for the family that lived there. well, my name is ben mathewson and i lived at this address my whole like. and currently live in the rebuilt form of the house. and i must say, this video does nothing but bring up bad memories.

I'm getting back into "fire buffing" and have no idea about scanners. I had a programable years ago and have no idea about what kind to purchase now. Any ideas? I want one that's easy to use, not complicated, and doesn't scan 10,000 channels (LOL). Any thoughts from you or anyone reading this would be appreciated. Thanks.
