haha I broke my screen doing this..doesn't matter really because my harddrive was already effed up the backside from a fall.. thanks anyway :P

on the older ipods they had plastic clips, you got a snowballs chance in hell doin it that way on my classic 6th gen, they used metal clips its like tryin to open a german tank

Unfortunately, it just wasn't 'this easy' for me. Using tiny screwdrivers to try to separate the front and back plates for my wife's 80G Ipod (Purchased in 2008), I ended up totally bending and destroying the VERY MALLEABLE thin metal plates. She'll be totally pissed when she gets home, but the battery was dead anyway. Back to Fry's for another $230+ donation to APple.

it didn't work for me... neither a guitar pick... both crack in the middle... i'll try something different...
To jrcr1 and everyone. I have a set of very handy fingers, I fix my old cell phone with minimal tools as well. I would be more than happy to take any donation of broken devices, and I'm surely I can work out some "for laymen" methods of doing so. :-)
