In this video we attempted to break 3 personal records. Highest Altitude, Fastest Speed, and Farthest distance from pilot. Two of the 3 got broken. Our previous speed record of 125.9 MPH still stands. Our previous altitude record of 580ft was completely smashed and the new record is 1,007ft. We flew 2,110 feet away. The plane was flown from an on board camera streaming to a laptop. That video can be seen on the bottom corner of this video. Altitudes and speeds were captured by an on board GPS device.

Ok.. So that's probably less than 100MW.. Great range for that power..
Very good video..Hope to see more of your flying.. :-)

@trondyne The transmitter is built into the camera, the only external part is a 9 volt battery. I know that my system works up to 1,000 feet if the path is clear.

@mcl768
Is there a separate video transmitter or is it built into the camera?
For the kind of distance you are doing a 500MW should work well.. out to 3000 feet.
Some folks are using VHF and going miles out..

@trondyne The camera I use uses the 2.4 ghz band, I'm not sure what the power rating is though. I put a better lens on it from another camera I had. The receiver is digital so I don't have to mess with a tuning knob, just select the right channel. That makes it a lot easier to get good picture quality.

Cool... I will order that asap..
Can you share more about your setup? Like what kind of video transmitter you have.. I have a 900mhz 500mw....but I haven't tested it yet...
thanks

@trondyne It hasn't gone to blue screen for me, when the signal drops it goes to static.

@mcl768
Thanks.. Any trouble with blue screen when video signal gets weak?

@trondyne The adapter I was using is called USB 2.0 Easy Capture. It plugs into a usb port and allows you to plug in standard rca connections for video and LR audio, or s-video. It only works with XP or earlier. bitly bdunbU
