First video with Steven Wells as partner in GOBTV. There were loads of interesting and fun ideas for this video that Sony gradually knocked on the head. Then the band said they didn't want to be in it (Bored with videos). So there was just James, and we got a bunch of Manics fans who had their own band, the Dead End Dolls to be the Manics....better looking I reckon. Especially the red head in the secretary glasses.
Traci Lords was unavailable, so we got model Blanche to lipsync her bit. Lots of high school political gestures in this vid...most of which you'd never see as they are slogans on the backdrop, and also on the kids' T shirts. "Keep Warm, Make Trouble" was my fave.
Anyway, Swells wrote a very funny piece about making this vidfor the Guardian. http://www.thisisyesterday.com/ints/s...

Richey and Nicky a generally the Manics I find attractive buy God is James hot in this video!
I love this Manics song, the lyrics are superb, James' voice is superb and let's not forget ,Sean never get credit as a drummer in magazines or press, he is one of the best around in my opinion! Plus, he's so multi-talented!

strange seeing this..seems to confirm the most naive aspects of the manics in retrospect..ie trying to be the new clash/ G&R /sex Pistols/Public enemy.with all the required posturing , but at the same time trying to be the virginal moralistic protectors of womenkind / the dissaffected etc...what a great mess up of manifestos they were!
still love them for trying!

Traci was not the first choice. At first they asked Kylie Minogue. She was refused for asking a huge fee .It is obvious that Traci was a better choice after all.According to the lyrics and the theme of the song.In a way she is singing about her own history.
