In this New Year program, Red Skelton welcomes guest Martha Raye. Red opens with another great monologue followed by the skit, "Of Mouth and Men," with Martha Raye and Tommy Noonan.

Martha Raye follows with three musical numbers and Red wraps up the show with one of the great pantomimes that he is so well known for.

This is the full version (almost one hour) of The Red Skelton Show with Martha Raye as Red's guest.

I previously uploaded segments of this episode that I was able to salvage from a very bad copy. Recently, I came across this complete episode which is a much better copy than the first.

  • I love this show. Red Skelton was one of the few where the characters could laugh their way through the entire skit, and it really added to it.

  • You should upload just the clip of Martha's performance of Taking a Chance on Love. I haven't been able to find one that equals it!

  • Originally at 1:20 was a 40 second break for "station identification" {this meant the CBS logo was shown for five seconds- "This is the CBS Television Network"- followed by a 30 second local commercial, and the local station's I.D. ("WCBS-TV, Channel 2, New York")}, immediately followed by the second half of Red's show at 1:23. The "primary sponsor" for the 9-9:30pm(et) portion was Lever Brothers, makers of Swan liquid dish detergent; they alternately sponsored "THE LUCY SHOW" on Monday nights.
