The Great Battle part 1

This is my very first animation of the power rangers, using the 1993 power ranger figures.

You may be wondering why I used the white power ranger as one of the fighters. Well, I did this because A: He looks evil with those frowning eyes. B: He's the only one that I could find at the time. But he fits the part as an evil one very well, even though the white ranger is the symbol of good and all that. And the reason I used the blue ranger was because I loved the blue ranger. As did everyone.

To make this animation short film I use a green screen. Which was some cardboard painted green ( leaf green) then I placed the figures separatelyon the green card and animated them with a video camera. I did this simply by rolling the video, moving the figure a little bit, then taking my hand away and moving the figure again, and repeat. This made it very easy to animate very quickly because I was only taking my hand away for a second then moving the figure again. Plus I didn't have to touch the camera to take the photo, meaning the camera was always still.

In the edit I imported all the footage as one whole. No logging, just upload and edit. I only took two frames of each move, this was to get a smooth (ish) motion.
once that was edited, I exported that footage so that now it was one whole video and not 300+ bits. And started the green screen effected.

For this effect to work I needed to go out and film full motion video for the background. I tried my best to match the figures angle. then in the edit I chroma keyed the green out. It's best not the use the preset green screen effect because the green you are using no matter how green you think it looks, isn't true green, so by using chroma key you are selecting the green that is on camera. Then I just put the right backgrounds in rendered it and bobs your uncle.
