小鹿田焼の里～唐臼～ Onta-yaki(Pottery) "Karausu"

小鹿田と書いて「おんた(Onta)」と読みます。

これは、「唐臼(からうす)」と言って陶土を粉状にするものです。てこの原理で、水溜めに水がたまって重くなると水が落ち（鹿威しと同じ）、杵が上がって、元に戻って陶土­を砕きます。

小鹿田焼（おんたやき）は、大分県日田市の小野・皿山地区に１０軒ほどの窯元で作られています。風景がまたすばらしく、観光地化されていないので、のんびりすごせます。M­r.Bernard Howell Leach(1887 - 1979) stayed here in1954 and 1964.

窯元の方々は、見た目愛想があまりよくありませんが、こちらから話し掛けると親切にしてくださいます。作っている工程をみることもできますが、マナーを守って静かにお願い­します。
