FOR MAXIMUM EXPOSURE TURN YOUR VOLUME UP!

The sound waves hit about 5 seconds after the shuttle launches.

STS-135 was the last NASA shuttle to launch into space. With a 70% chance of no launch it turned out to be a small window that proved in favor of the 30% launch. We were 3.1 miles from the launch site which is the closest anyone can get. It was mostly just press. The second closest to the launch site you could be was 12-14 miles from the launch area.

  • AMAZING !!!!!! I get goose bumps everytime I see it !!!!!

    Great Job Sweetie

  • Very nice! The rumbling was amazing even from a few more miles away. And it stuck around for a while too, was neat hearing the engine roaring for such a long time.

  • That was so cool. I love how long it took for the sound to reach you. And the end, the smoke it left looked like a ladder to the sky. I just wanted to climb it! :D
