It's not the first magical girl show, the first one was like in 1960, called "Magical Sally" I think?
I would say it might be the first "transforming girl" show but I'm not sure. I'm not sure if it's magic if she uses technology to attack and transform.
It was the first "Magical Warrior" anime (IIRC), a subset of "magical girl" shows, Mahotsukai Sally, (magical witch Sally) was of the "cute witch" type of magical girls. Most of the modern one's are more like the "magical warrior" than the "cute witch"
