  • I'm playing this piece right now, and in the music there are simply two annotations for this part: To be played in Ab or G major. We were told to be prepared for both, I guess in this case there was some confusion over which version was being played, or someone simply forgot. Wonderful :)

  • Oh yeah it does! The material is always the material and when you have a dozen of tenors each season sharing 40 shows of a popular hit opera, you better be on the watch when you are playing!

  • @callasnuts That has nothing to do with the musicians...they play the musicwhat they get on their music stand...the mistake was of the guy who prepare the scores for the orchestra! :)

  • Schönberg had apparently re-orchestrated this....well,it has to do with certain guest tenors who one day sing the original version in A flat(seldom!) and other guest tenors who the next day sing G Major....and then there are orchestral musicians who are not aware of who´s on stage....well,no wonder Welser-Möst quit after this show!!!

  • why would the flautist need to transpose? i think it was just a f#*k up.

  • fróoon.... frééíiin... ahahahahahahahaha

  • Great save!

  • hahhahahahaahhaahhhaha
