I am Leo Nupolu Johnson from Hamilton Ontario and I am 25 years old. I am confident in my ability to lead and become Canada Next Great Prime Minister. My understanding and experience of the core issues, coupled with my record of tackling challenges has been a huge asset in my endeavor to make Canada not the just the best place to raise a child, but the best place for families and parents to live because together, they are the most significant stakeholder of our democracy.
Just a highlight of who I am; I was born in Liberia where I lived until 1998 when I fled at the age of 16 due to more than a decade long civil war. I worked as a student Journalist for the High School Press Association of Liberia (HISPAL) in 1997 and the Young Men Christian Association of Liberia (YMCA), where I organized various forums and activities for youth engagement and development prior to my escape. Since my escape, Ive lived on two refugee camps in Ivory Coast and Ghana for eight years, where I worked as a youth activist and community leader with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, Liberian Refugee Welfare Council and a host of other Organizations, some of which I established. After eight years of unstable life as a refugee and family separation, I arrived in Canada March 23, 2006 through the Canadian Government Refugee Assistance Program. After a period of two years in Canada, these are highlights of my activities:
•worked for Settlement and Integration Services Organization as a Life Skills Trainer and a Youth volunteer for Newcomers
•worked for Immigrant Culture and Arts Association as Youth Coordinator for mobilization and education
•represented Hamilton at an international Conference on the Rights of Refugees in Toronto for three days
•Participated in the World University Service of Canada annual general assembly held in Ottawa.
•mobilize a group of 25 youth from Liberia, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan and Iraq for the sole purpose of education
•Founder and Executive Director (C.U.R.E Canada) a group of Youth primarily from McMaster University that fundraises and helps to educate underprivileged children in Hamilton, and internationally
•Governing Council Member Hamilton Center for Civic Inclusion
•Third Year McMaster University
•Part time customer service representative TD Canada Trust
•2007 Recipient Rev. J. C. Holland Awards for Youth Achievement
•2007/2008 Semi finalist CBC Canada Next Great Prime Minister
•Recipient - Hamilton top 40 under 40 awards (A special feature celebrating 40 exceptional people under 40 who are making a difference in our communities)

  • Let's begin by getting at least five of our friends to watch my video. I need to hear from them even if they do not agree with me. I know some people do not have youtube accounts to make comments, they can watch the video, email me their questions or get it on the facebook page. Let's make sure this year my video is the most watched, in that way we send a strong signal to people that we are ready to continue the wave of change from the United States in to Canada.

  • We need to get people to watch my video and make comments. I am impressed so far with the response, but we are still far from hitting our target. We have target getting at least 5000 people to watch my video by the end of November (Yes We Can).

  • My heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you who have shown that together we can do something about the future of this great country, Canada, yea the world. You have shown this by giving me your vote of confidence to be Canada's Next Great Prime Minister, and I am honored. I cannot do this alone, I need everyone of you for us to make this dream come true.

  • Good luck Leo! Great insights into the state of Canadian politics. Get it done!

  • Thanks for the comments

  • Dahaigbaa, clearly he is Canadian or he couldn't run for Prime Minister. And just because he is from Liberia doesn't mean he can't be a great Prime Minister of Canada, in Canada we are proud of our differences, and it is clear to me that he communicates strongly his message for the country. Leo, you seem like a strong choice, best of luck to you.

  • Its our site and also i forwarded to few friends on my page.

  • @orasis or maybe u shouldn't

  • I will support you ~ i like wildlife

  • I think you speak well, don't listen to what anyone else says. As long as your can be understand it's fine. I have friends with strong Chinese accents and Indian accents and other accents and sometimes they get frustrated because people make fun of them and tease them. People seem to think they're open and accepting but everyone has they're own biases. I think as long a person has good ideas they should be heard out and given a viable chance.

    Good luck.

    Most importantly... Nice Tie.

  • That is great Mr Johnson. Keep it up. I know you are going to that soon .

  • Are you serious?

  • Good luck Leo. May God bless you .

  • Man you're black, you could never be able to lead anything unless you change the color of your skin, thats the reality
