Interaction between comet Elenin and coronal mass ejection from the Sun

Auteur.Leonid Elenin

Web site

http://spaceobs.org/en/

The closest the comet will come to Earth is 0.23 AU (Astronomical Units), or approximately 34-million kilometers, so it poses no threat to us. We will attempt to keep this page updated with the latest observations.

Try, for example, "Ahead HI1," "Slideshow," 512 x 512 resolution, start date = 20110801, and end date = 20110803.

I've labelled objects I recognize on the attached image. I believe the object to the lower right of Alpha Sco is M4.

You can also get an approximate idea of what's in the field of view (which is larger than the circle in he resulting diagram) with the SECCHI star map tool at:

http://secchi.nrl.navy.mil/index.php?p=sky/secchimap

(enter date, spacecraft, instrument at the bottom of the page).

The dashed, red line is the ecliptic.

  • I dont see a comet here... And Ive seen those pics, or similar pics before, nothings really new here, but the dead give away is the fact that nothing in this picture has an actual physical tail,

  • @Zofnok maby we must look here to find

  • Great Music!

  • This Guy is HELPING YOU OUT BIG TIME by even Posting this...LOOK CLOSER! at the END...You are Answering the Question with your OBVIOUS??? Questioning??

  • @poIebot *siiiiiigggggghhhh*

Listen. Obviously you are too clever for my charm and see right through my lies. The truth is I work for you know who and you should seek out shelter before it's too late. God bless.

  • @interista7878 comets have tails, ALL of them do, the pics from NASA and Sydeney star gazers and Astroblogger show no tail, also it has been moving @ planetary speed, comets move MUCH MUCH faster..

  • @interista7878 what more could I say? If people deny whats in front of their eyes, no reason for me to waste my time trying to convince them otherwise, all I have to say is.. STAY TUNED..

  • @poIebot Anything else or are you good?

  • @poIebot You can't see the coma with your naked eye since it's not a nucleus but rather faint particles of dust and ice too small and too thin to be lit by the sun. The particles that are left behind is the tail.

What happens when the comet passes the sun is that the coma's and tail's particles gets pushed by radiation pressure into a new tail facing away from the sun. This tail, due to the addition of the coma, has a higher density and will together with the close proximity reflect light.

  • @interista7878 if its coma is as big as being reported on spaceobs, then it is 10 times larger then venus, can we see venus with the naked eye? yuhp, so why couldnt we see this object? (before june 22nd obviously) I am sorry, wayyyy to many people have debunked the THEORY that this is a comet.. only a handful are still maintaining that this is a comet and the lies are becoming unraveled..

  • @poIebot It's purely a visual effect due to different photography techniques and telescopes. Google "track and stack" and visit the third site from the top - birtwhistle(dot)org(slash)stackingtechniques(dot)htm.

I'll gladly debunk anything else you have.

  • @poIebot silly stuff...
