lo vidi e sentì in tutte le sue recite in Arena a Verona dal 1956 ed ancora non posso stare un solo giorno senza sentire la sua voce!

Who could believe that he was already slowly deteriorating and dying! And he sings so gloriously here! What a noble, impassioned interpretation! His very soul pours out in his masculine, velvety, and yet so very tender voice!

These recordings are made with technology of that time and he sounds so full no matter that mikes at that time could not pick up all the frequencys the can nowadays....... Can you imagine what sound he must have had when singing live??? Is there anybody among us here who actually heard him singing live?

One and a half, actually. I have been listening to opera fiercely for the last... what... 12 years - but I have never heard something better than Ettore's voice. He's got the depth, the emotion, the "flesh" of the voice. He knows what he's doing, what it is all about - a truly INTELLIGENT singer. There aren't many of them nowadays, I believe.
And I will love him forever - his voice is just... indescribable. No words for the perfection - just a really, really deep bow.
