100 Stoelen

A chair exhibition at the Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam. The exhibition is an initiative of Gerrit Oorthuys, collector of 20th century chairs. The variety of chairs in Lloyd Hotel inspired him to compose this exhibition. With '100 Chairs', Oorthuys temporarily extends the furniture range of Lloyd Hotel, reflects upon it, and transforms it into a collection. On show are items by Berlage, Thonet, Johannes Duiker, Gispen, Friso Kramer, Van Ravesteijn, Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld, Paul Schuitema, Mart Stam and Martin Visser, next to office and industrial chairs from anonymous designers. Designer Gielijn Escher made the poster, Kees Alberts wrote the exhibition texts.

Een stoelententoonstelling op initiatief van Gerrit Oorthuys, verzamelaar van 20ste eeuwse stoelen. De varieteit aan stoelen in het Lloyd Hotel inspireerde hem om deze tentoonstelling samen te stellen.
Met '100 Stoelen', breidt Oorthuys de reeks meubilair van het Lloyd Hotel tijdelijk uit, reflecteert hij erop en transformeert hij deze tot een collectie.
Te zien zijn stoelen van ondermeer Berlage, Thonet, Johannes Duiker, Gispen, Friso Kramer, Van Ravesteijn, Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld, Paul Schuitema, Mart Stam en Martin Visser, naast kantoor en industriele stoelen en krukken van anonieme ontwerpers.
Ontwerper Gielijn Escher maakte het affiche, Kees Alberts schreef de tentoonstellingsteksten.
