This is video and music from an art piece created in collaboration with Matt Zaun on Medicine Lake in Minnesota,
In the Winter of 2005/2006 Matt Zaun and Sean Connaughty built three igloos and an ice amphitheatre. Loosely based on traditional inuit snow structures, Zaun and Connaughty designed the igloos as environments for recording and playing back music. Musicians and non-musicians alike got together in this intimate, unique environment and played various cold weather instruments. This CD has an original, signed photogravure print and contains the recorded music from those 'sessions'. It is a very limited edition of 30. Cost is $22.00 To purchase one online go to http://www.mattzaun.com/bigloo/ they will be gone soon.

People who played on the Bigloo CD: Dave Onnen David Pitman, Peter Haakon Thompson, Jason Kesselring, Krissy Mitchell, Mike Hoyt, Kristen Murray, Chris and ....... Drew Peterson with friend. Adam And Lisa, Scott Puhl, Kevin, Dan Hill, Susan Stone, Matt Zaun and Sean Connaughty

Best Friend and collaborator Matt Zaun died in his sleep at the age of 31 on November 4th 2007. I will miss you Matt.

A Bigloo is an igloo like structure built with packed snow, often conical in shape, rather than dome-shaped like traditional Inuit Iglus. These are built with snow bricks quarried from arctic snow-pack, which can reach considerable depths in that region. In Minnesota there is no snow pack for quarrying bricks, so bricks are built using a mold. In temperatures below freezing the snow must be mixed with water to create bricks and mortar.
