Donkey Kong on the Apple II. This video shows all four levels of the game, but not in order. The repeating levels have been removed to save time and space.
Unlike many console and home computer ports of the era, this port includes most of the arcade elements. It has some unique physics, however.
Played on real hardware using an original copy of the game.

Wow, for 1977 this looks awesome. Steve Wozniak doesn't get the credit he deserves. He was the true Genius not Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs is more of a marketing Genius.
Talking about Apple II hardware for that time period. I know Steve didn't program the game.

Jumpman looks like TF2's Soldier on crack, jumps in an upside-down U-shape, and everything seems to have hilarious XOR mapping.

@gamesDAMNED until Nintendo came up with the whole DK idea once again when they released Super Game Boy for the Super Nintendo in 1994 which lets you play Donkey Kong (and other Game Boy grey mold/GBC black mold games including The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley) in living color, thanks to the Super Nintendo's Mode 7 technology.

One of the dirty little secrets back in the 80s is that companies would make games for their rivals - Atarisoft on Apple II, Coleco on Atari 2600 - and then deliberately do a shit job. These were hardware rivals, after all. Why should Atari help out Apple when they've got a kick-ass Donkey Kong on the Atari 800? It would be funny to see this being done today, with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all trying to sabotage each other's consoles.

@gamesDAMNED That's a myth. It makes zero sense for a company to invest millions of dollars into developing hundreds of substandard games in an attempt to sabotage your rivals. Better not to port the game at all. While some cross-platform ports to rival systems aren't so hot, most are completely acceptable, and some are fantastic. Considering the hardware limitations of the Apple II, this port of DK is actually very good.

I was about to say, that was indeed a myth. While some versions of games were less than stellar...this was probably due to rushed programming and unfamiliarity with the platforms. One really had to know the quirky ins and outs of some of these systems to get the most out of them. The versions speak for themselves...Atarisoft for example did some amazing ports, some sucked, but I'd say overall they did nearly as well in hit/miss ratio as they did for their own plattform.
