homage to John Coltrane and his rendition of broadway musical, "My Favorite Things"...Check out Coltrane's version and then listen to Kool & the Gang version. Its the TRUTH!

Parliment/funkadelic and George Clinton was hard funk in the beginning. Kool and the Gang ushered in contemporary funk. This album was solid funk y'all. Yeeeah!!!

I got a Hitachi (get this!) a cassette recorder, am/fm combo for Christmas in '74. I recorded songs I liked off the local AFRS station, SCN 790 Pacific/1420 Atlantic, in the former Canal Zone. I just caught the tail end of this one at the end of DJ Joe Krokus' show and it has always stuck in my mind. It wasn't until today, that I heard the first 3:45 of this song, 35 years later! Truly a vintage classic, thanks for posting!

I was one of those young guys influenced by this cut. Khalis definetly had a style of his own. When I heard this back in 74 I started playing tenor sax and haven't put it down since.
