Dr Chistopher Shih, grand prizewinner, plays Brahms Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 21 No. 1. during finals of 4th Boston Intermational Piano Competition for Exceptional Amateurs
True enough, but the virtuosity displayed here is prodigious, believe me. The splendid, rich piano SOUND he achieves is absolutely PERFECT for the music of Johannes Brahms. This rarely performed masterwork could not hope to enjoy a more masterful and deeply affectionate reading.
Wow!! What a brilliant performance. This is what a musician, amateur or professional, should be. An invigorating interpretation buttressed by emotional exuberance. Does he play in the NY Metropolitan area? I would love to see him perform.
dr.shih hat technische reserven für die intrackten variationen 8 & 9 und sensibilität für die fugale no 5 und ebenso kondition für die triller im finale.BRAVO!!
This man is incredible and truly captures music in this performance. In many respects, when listening to this man play, one does not hear notes, but relives emotions, the music is merely the bridge between the two. Notes and music are not the same. Dr. Shih is a true musician and demonstrates it is not extreme virtuosity that defines a musician, but heartfelt love for the music, whether it be virtuosic or not.

This guy must be a prodigy. He is good enough to be admitted to Julliard.
